 FAQs

  • A steel spec trailer is a reinforced freight carrier specifically engineered for the steel and recycling industries. These trailers feature high-tensile structural components and hardened flooring designed to withstand the heavy impact, abrasion, and concentrated weight of hauling scrap metal, steel coils, and industrial metal products.

  • Standard trailer floors can warp or puncture under the weight of raw steel. Midland steel spec trailers utilize a standard 6–8mm Hardox or Bissalloy deck, which provides exceptional strength and resilience. This ensures the deck remains flat and durable even after years of loading sharp or heavy metal scrap.

  • Steel transport often involves exposure to the elements and abrasive materials. Our "Prepare and Protect" system involves full sandblasting, a poly zinc undercoat, and a powder-coat topcoat. This process is up to three times more durable than standard paint, preventing rust and chipping to ensure the trailer maintains its structural integrity and resale value.

  • A split-axle group increases your mass capacity under the Performance-Based Standards (PBS) scheme. By spacing the axles intelligently, you can carry a higher legal payload without increasing the trailer's tare weight, maximizing your return on every trip through increased efficiency.

  • We offer versatile configurations including lead and tag trailers for B-Double or Road Train setups. You can also customize your build with straight or stepped bolsters, fixed or removable load racks, and in-deck tie-down points to suit specific haulage needs like oversized steel beams or tall coils.
