Low Loader Trailers

Popular Low Loader Trailers

Among our range of Low Loader Trailers, two of our most popular builds are the Tri Axle Low Loader and the Quad Axle Low Loader. Both trailers are designed with strength and durability in mind and can accommodate heavy payloads. The key difference between these two trailers is that the extra Quad Axle Low Loader allows for more even weight distribution and, therefore, can carry heavier loads. Midland’s Quad Axle Low Loaders can carry up to 6 tonnes more than our Tri Axle Low Loaders.

Custom-built Low Loader Trailers

Our Low Loaders can be customised with various axle, deck widening and other features. So, if you want to customise the configurations of Tri Axle Low Loader or Quad Axle Low Loader, or maybe you’re looking for a completely different type of Low Loader, contact us and we’ll talk you through the different options.

 FAQs

  • A low loader trailer is a specialized semi-trailer with a deck positioned lower than a standard flatbed, specifically designed to carry heavy, oversized, or tall machinery. By reducing the deck height, these trailers provide a lower center of gravity for better stability and ensure that tall equipment can safely pass under bridges and powerlines without the need for dismantling.

  • Midland low loaders are engineered for high-capacity performance, with an Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) of up to 45 tonnes for Tri-Axle models and up to 55 tonnes for Quad-Axle configurations. Depending on the specific build and axle setup, these trailers can handle payloads of up to 36 tonnes.

  • Hydraulic ramps provide a secure, high-grip transition for heavy plant equipment, significantly reducing the risk of slippage during the loading process. They offer precise control and ease of use, allowing operators to load "dead" machinery or low-clearance excavators and bulldozers quickly and safely without manual strain.

  • We offer high-performance axle and suspension packages from industry-leading brands like BPW, Hendrickson, and K-Hitch. Buyers can choose between heavy-duty spring suspension for rugged terrain or airbag suspension for a smoother ride and more consistent deck height when transporting sensitive machinery.

  • Yes. All Midland trailers are built using high-grade Australian steel and are fully compliant with Australian Design Rules (ADR) and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) standards. This ensures that your trailer meets all legal braking and safety requirements for operation on Australian roads.

  • Low Loader trailers, sometimes known as lowboys, are specialised transport truck trailers designed for hauling heavy or oversized equipment. These trailers are distinguished by their low bed height, which facilitates the loading and unloading of tall items that might exceed height restrictions on regular flat tops. Low Loaders are commonly used in sectors where heavy equipment needs relocation over significant distances.

  • Industries like construction, mining, waste management and manufacturing commonly use Low Loaders for their capacity to transport large machinery efficiently and safely. Their versatility and capability to handle substantial weights make them the ideal trailer for these industries.

  • Load capacity will differ depending on the specifications of your trailer and the axle configuration. Typically, our Low Loader Trailers have a payload of between 30–36 tonnes.

  • Yes, Low Loader Trailers (and all other trailers purchased through Midland) come with a warranty that will entitle you to complimentary repairs or replacement in the unlikely event that your trailer has a malfunctioning error.
